In Full Swing!

Precision Landscape is currently finishing up our third week of work and we couldn’t be more happy about the weather and the amount of work that is coming our way! The phone is ringing off the hook and people are stopping our crews in the street asking us for mulch, fertilizer, beetle drench, and spring clean up. It’s always a challenge adapting to the hectic pace that we keep in the spring, but we are back in the swing of things and our crews are ready to take on the projects and accomplish the goals we have set for the year. We are already booked several weeks out on landscape projects so call soon if you want to get in on the action!

Landscape Makeover!

This spring, Precision Landscape will be doing a landscape makeover for one lucky winner in the City of Freeport. The plan is to do a full lawn clean up and install new landscaping in the front of the house. We are asking anyone who would like to participate to write a short essay on who should be chosen and why. We are looking for someone who gives back to their friends, family, and community themselves but may be struggling to find the time or have the ability to take care of the lawn themselves. We have already received some letters and are getting really excited to help someone out!

The letters will be due on April 22nd and we will announce a winner on May 6th. Get your letters in right away for a chance to have Precision Landscape in your yard for a Makeover!

Send letters to: Precision Landscape PO Box 73 Eleroy, IL 61027

Precision Landscape is Growing!!

A big thank you to all of our customers who continue to support us! After 14 years, we have a working business system which allows us to serve our customers with fast, friendly, and reliable service day in and day out. We are growing rapidly now and are eager to reach out to as many retuning and new customers as possible. In 2012 we are expanding our service area to Rockford and the Galena Territories. Look for the Black Trucks!

Workforce Development Coalition

Precision Landscape has teamed up with the Workforce Development Coalition. We are now encouraging all new applicants to take a round of tests called Work Keys. It is a set of 3 tests which assesses a person’s skills in reading comprehension, mathematics, and job locating. We are less concerned at this time however, of the scores an applicant may achieve but more focused on the initiative shown by one who is willing to take the test over one who will not.

All of our current staff has either taken the 3 tests or will be taking it soon. I find the tests to be a very good representation of where a person is at in terms of basic skills. I look forward to seeing how these test scores reflect how people perform within the company over time.

Encouraging the testing has already provided an added level of professionaliam to the company and is sending the message that we are serious about hiring qualified people who plan to stick around long term.

Did you see us at the show?

Precision Landscape spent the weekend at the Rockford Home Show at Indoor Sports Arena. The weather didn’t cooperate Friday night but that didn’t stop the people coming out over the weekend to meet local contractors for ideas on upcoming home improvements this season. We came away inspired and challenged to fulfill our rising clientele that now reaches from Galena to Belvidere. One of the sales tactics that we discovered and used quite often was asking the question, “Do you have a project in mind for this spring?” Engaging with the person and letting them talk about their vision made them feel comfortable about the conversation which gave us the opportunity to offer our services and talk to them about Precision’s dedication to offer a great experience. The show was definitely a big success and well worth the time. Kyle, Josh, and myself all enjoyed meeting new people. We also had a good time chatting with our neighbor, the Brickkicker DeWayne.

We’ll be busy for the next couple of weeks following up on all of our leads. I expect to get around to everybody just in time for our next show, the Stephenson County Home Show coming up March 16, 17, and 18th at HCC in Freeport. We’ll have a 10 x 20 booth on an end cap and are looking forward to meeting a bunch of new people and also visiting with all of our current customers. Hope to see you there!
